Gillian knelt at the altar, muttering a silent ldquo;Thank Yourdquo;, sealing the promise she just made to God, as well as to herself. Getting up to her feet, she walked out of the sanctuary, her pair of heels breaking the silence.

She returned to the village in her Ferrari, drawing the eyes of the neighbours. The women whispered to each other, nodding their heads in agreement. The people approached the vehicle as she pulled the brakes, getting out of the car. The villagers stared at her clothes, foreign to their tradition and culture. Taking off her sunglasses, she walked toward her parents, greeting them ldquo;Ma, Pardquo;. Her father walked away without a word, her mother trailing behind, turning back to have one last look of her daughter, her eyes portraying helplessness.
